It's not often I say it but last night's episode of Stargate: SG1 was very good. Almost Angel like in its intensity. And how cool was it that it ran for 90 minutes instead of the usual 60? And only another two episodes to go before the season is over. Ah well.

Does anyone on my LJ friend list live in Virginia? Could they please comment on why their legislature is trying to pass one of the most ridiculous bills in history? I mean trying to ban the wearing of trousers that allow underwear to hang out over the top, it's pretty daft.

BBC report on this story

Every weekday I get the train to work. Which in itself is not exciting. But what makes it slightly surreal is that a middle aged French woman complains to random people in the crowd on the platform about the lateness of the trains. Well when I say complain, I mean shouts at people and then verbally abuses the tannoy system. Not very British behaviour, it must be said.

And apparently George Bush Sr was Deepthroat. I kinda like that. Always thought he was a decent bloke.

That's it for my random thoughts today.

Bugger it, it's not actually. SciFi channel have confirmed that there will be a second series of Battlestar Galactica. It's official yay! The best TV show on air at the moment is coming back.

Really? Where did you hear that? I've always pegged him as a team player no matter what although I wouldn't dispute that he's a decent bloke. Then again what do I know about American politics?

You can read about it here (http://www.mediainfo.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1000789447).

Although this doesn't hold a candle to the proposed "12 hour reporting" requirement on miscarriages. (The author claimed that his language was only intended to cover live births and thereby provide penalties to mothers who abandoned their babies, but that didn't hold with the text at all.)

*jaw drops*

Can they do that? Ban baggy trousers? So much for the land of the free, I eagerly await the Hallmark mini series about the brave soul who takes this to the supreme court, hey, if flashing your undies is good enough for Superman, it's good enough for the rest of us.

I was preparing to write my representative an impassioned (hand written) letter evoking the long and distinguished history of the Commonwealth and expressing my opposition to the measure. Happily, it was withdrawn based on public outcry before I set pen to paper.

Interesting. I hadn't heard that Bush the First was ill, though, and I remember hearing on the news the other day that someone who actually knew the secret had said Deep Throat was ill. (Woodward has long maintained that he will reveal the man's identity once he is dead.)

And OOC are your SG-1 airings ahead of or behind US ones? Cause we're sorta in the middle of a season at the moment and I can't remember a recent 90 minute episode.

We're ahead. It was the third last episode of the current season last night. Me and Robyn have no idea why they decided to do a 90 minute episode but by gosh it worked. I don't want to go into more details as I dont want to spoil anyone but it's really excellent.

Hm. Now the real question is whether we get a butchered episode or a whopping number of commercials to make a 2-parter of it. Gotta love US Cable TV.

The first transmission in both Britain and America will be the 90 minute version so you will get to see it
