Believe I did to try see if there was. It's a completely useless vegetable for cooking with. It shrivels up and is tasteless. And don't get me started on oregano. Shame on the frozen pizza company who decided it would be an excellent idea to dump half a ton of the sodding stuff on a pork, cheese and tomato ciabatta pizza. Bloody vile it was. And to add insult to injury, the pizza was still frozen solid in the middle after the recommended 18 minutes of cooking in the oven.

In other news, the new Oasis single is dire. A real career nadir. I'm embarrassed to admit how much I loved the band 10 years ago.

Simple spinach stir fry

Spinach is my favorite cooked vegetable, because it takes on the taste of whatever you cook it with. But simplest is best:

1/2 onion, minced
1 clove garlic (2 cloves if you like garlic), minced
Saute these in a dollop of fragrant olive oil in a big frying pan over medium heat until onions are soft, about 3 minutes.

Immediately add 1 big bag of clean, washed raw spinach leaves to the pan. Don't worry about piling it in; it will cook down to a very small amount. Saute a minute until it has wilted down considerably and is small enough to handle, then add salt and pepper to taste then put the lid on. Let cook a few more minutes until soft but still bright green.

Put on serving plate. There will be a bit of cooking liquid. If you don't like it, drain this off. Serve immediately after squeezing half a lemon over the top. If you have roasted sesame seeds, sprinkle a few on.
Four ingredients, 5 minutes.

The pizza may still be frozen

... if your oven isn't hot enough. Usually, a frozen pizza is cooked at 425F (220C) for about 20 minutes. An oven thermometer from a cooking store can tell you if the temperature is correct.

OR

Most frozen pizzas have a time range for baking, typically, 20-30 minutes, depending whether you like your pizza crispy, or soggy. Next time you make the same pizza, try adding the extra 10 minutes. Aslo, before removing any food from the oven for eating, stick an eating utensil in the middle and make sure it's actually cooked.

Stoemp

Best thing you can do with spinach is make a very Belgian dish: stoemp.

Buy frozen spinach with cream already added in. It comes in those handy portions. Put the amount you need in a bowl and heat it in the microwave, like it says on the package. Cook some potatoes (a bit more than the amount of frozen spinach) -- you're Irish, you should know how to do that. When everything's ready: mash the potatoes with the spinach. Don't do this with an electronic mixer!! That's disgusting! Now season after your own taste with pepper and nutmeg.

This dish is great accompanied with fish sticks, bacon or (to be really Belgian) sausages.

Fresh spinach is my favorite salad green.

You lose my vote too. I love spinach. It's my leafy salad vegetable; I never buy lettuce. Or I put it in a frying pan with salt and pepper to wilt it for a side dish/snack. Or add it to eggs/pizza/pasta.

mmmm.
