So I watched the first episode of the much hyped BBC/HBO drama 'Rome'. First off, let me say the credits were particularly bad. But once you get past that, Rome is high camp on a hilarious scale. Some very good actors in it, but some appalling dialogue. Not quite sure that Mark Anthony would say "Ah Brutus, my old cock".

So if you miss Dallas and Dynasty, watch 'Rome'.

Really? That's what he said? I feel, now, that I almost have to watch it. *snicker*

Indeed indeed, which is why it makes a fantastic candidate for the TWOP recaps.

I saw it and really liked it.

It did well in the ratings incidentally. 6.6 million viewers (1.5 million more than Lost premier), best rating BBC2 have had since BBC1 atole have I got news for you, and Red Dwarf went off air. It also won the time slot by 2 million (BBc2 normally finish 4th)

The BBC have been cutting out the some of the histortical context on the basis that people in the UK would already know this information. It amounts to basically an entire episode as it's a 12 parter in the US and a 11 parter on the BBC

This link has a quick list of what was cut out of the first episode
