So I was in the local comic book shop and noticed that they'd reduced the latest Spike, Anya and Tara action figures from 15 pounds to 5. Ouch. Not a good sign for the long term viability of the Buffyverse. Joss better make that Spike movie otherwise 20th Century Fox will be making sweet f.a. from their license deals.

The tie in books in books shops have also been drastically reduced, the Waterstone's here used to have a whole section, now it's just a shelf, such is life though.

not sure!

Hey, capitalist-running-dog (in the most affectionate way possible), profit's not the only way to measure fandom! Look at burgeoning fanfic and the whole weird notion that there are still mainstream news articles about Buffy (like that thing from Chicago recently). And of course, we all know that the main way to see what's hip is to look at what the academics are interested in *note ironic tone of self-deprecating acacemic*--you wouldn't believe how many books/essays are in the works (exhausting for me since I wanna write one).

Why affectionate? B/C I check in to Whedonesque all the time and am so grateful to you so not that I have a livejournal, I thought I'd mosey on over and tell you, so what I meant by "capitalist running dog" was actually "thank you for the great service you do for the community of lazy shy fans like me" It just came out different. But seriously, recently there have been some fairly major stirrings in the Buffyverse that bubble up to mainstream media, not just geekdom.
