Since my dad had his angioplasty and got discharged, he has since twice gone back into hospital. On Sunday night, he raced for the phone and subsequently over-exerted himself and felt bad mum took him to Casualty and he had to stay over night. This afternoon, for some ungodly reason he decided to move a bookcase. A little bit later he was sitting on a chair, started to slur his words and then collapsed. So another trip to Casualty in an ambulance and no doubt he will be staying overnight.

I'm angry that he hasn't realised how physically infirm he is after his heart attack and operation and so very worried about him. For my mum to see him collapse like that, it scared the hell out of her.

Small update...Simon's dad has some fluid on his lungs. And, the meds he is taking can reduce your blood pressure, hence the collapsing after moving the bookcase. Why he was moving a bookcase less than a week after angioplasty, I do not know. He'll be in the hospital at least over night. And then we're tying him to easy chair for the next two months. :o)

My mother who has been out of work for 3 years due to an injury decided last year to move her full sized bed from one room to another.

By herself.

She got one hell of a lecture from me over the phone.

Hopefully, your dad is getting the idea.

Don't be too harsh

It's not stupidity. It's that looking one's own mortality in the eye can result in things like denial.

And I can attest that even though I am over 50, my self-image is 20 years behind.

I'm sure it will take some time.
