So farewell then 'Top of the Pops'. 42 years on the telly. Kurt Cobain murdering Smells Like Teen Spirit and Damon Albarn wearing an Oasis t-shirt are my all time favourite TOTP memories.

And damn that Bryan Singer for getting me all weepy during Superman Returns. The baseball park? Best crowd scene since Ghostbusters.

It's gone?? Noooo, the only surviving pop-program with live music!

We didn't even have one. Had to watch Countdown on Dutch telly, back in the dark ages of pre-commercial television.

(Countdowns predecessor Toppop (a very good rip-off of the original British product) even features on David Bowie's Best Of dvd...)
