Also the current Lj kerfuffle? Does anyone else apart from me really not care? From a fanacademic point of view it's interesting to observe but its just not engaging me.

Agreed here also. I think the thing is, a load of people will leave, set up at other sites which promise not to censor, those sites will get takedown requests from groups and the police and HAVE to comply, people will get bent out of shape, move to another site... Whilst most Livejournal users just won't give a flying fuck.

Our hosting company updated their server and it played merry hell with our site and was inaccessible on and off for a few days. Just a tad frustrating.

I doubt that I would totally relocate off LJ, if for no reason than because it would be difficult to find a replacement for the friendslist feature. (Yes, I realize it's possible to syndicate stuff like the Sheep has, but that's a pain in the tail for comments.)

I will say that I had been contemplating paid membership for some time before these kerflaffles began, and the various incidents have turned me off to paying Six Apart, especially paying them in advance for a year or more at a time.

I didn't care until someone pointed me to this debacle. The whole pro-ana on LJ issue has been a very sensitive subject for many members for a long time, and seeing an LJ employee make such an ignorant and offensive comment, "on record" as it were, was just about the last straw for me. Not leaving LJ, but I definitely won't be renewing my paid account.

Huh. I wasn't paying much attention, because I didn't wasn't directly affected and don't really care. But the "official" statements about pro-anorexia groups made me ill. I won't be renewing my paid account either.

The thing is, people are complaining about Six Apart dealing with child porn issues -- which is illegal and a legal obligation as a service provider in the US to address -- and then saying they should deal with the pro-anorexia groups -- which AREN'T illegal under US law.

Which makes no sense.

Simon, I'm so glad the server is happy now. Safari pissed me off while Firefox seemed to piss me off less. I figured there was something going on, and there wasn't some plot out there to keep me off Whedonesqe. Now that would be a sad, sad day my friend.
