Fandom stunned! No Doctor Who series in 2009. Three specials planned for that year instead. Also, Tennant in doubt for fifth series in 2010. Is this the end?

It'll only be the end when the fat lady sings and the oceans are suddenly devoid of dolphins *nods*

That makes me sad...Just finishing up season 2 right now. I don't want to read the article for fear of spoilers.

When Doctor Who starts getting a tad boring I always remember you saying..."Doctor Who is as good as Buffy". That keeps me hanging on. Don't get me wrong, I like it, but I haven't felt the urge I get when I must watch the next episode. Ya know? Hoping it will get better.

The end? Hardly. Too big a cash cow in money and ratings to end it. RTD is replacable, and because of the character of the Doctor, he's easily re-cast.

2009 will see the 3 specials because Tennant wants to do his Shakespeare thing. If spaced out nicely, it will be a nice transition to the 2010 Fifth series, which will most likely have a different look (no RTD) and new Doctor (who I'm guessing will regenerate during the last "special" of 2009).

And besides, with the down time, they can concentrait on getting decent scripts for Torchwood and give a decent push to the Sarah Jane Adventures.
