I am well aware of the now infamous "Joss Whedon is a rapist and Firefly abuses women" LJ entry. I actually came across it last year and rolled my eyes and moved on. It's just drivel and bigoted drivel to boot. However wank is now ensuing and yours truly will no doubt be deleting the umpteen links to it at Whedonesque. I really do loath extremists of any kind and hate to give them the oxygen of publicity.

I think she's defining "feminist" as "anyone who is me". Because I think of myself as a feminist, having made my way in the world as the only woman in the room and I can see that she is seriously angry about something.

It looks to me like this person was just looking for misogyny in Firefly, and when you look for something hard enough, you do find it. I'm most apalled that she immediately had a problem with Zoe calling Mal "sir". Um. They were soldiers. Mal was her superior. And if she can't understand that, she's got serious developmental problems.

This whole thing would be ridiculous if she hadn't accused Joss of being a rapist. I find that offensive.
