Torchwood proving to be more enjoyable than Dollhouse. Yesterday's scenes had me on the edge of my seat. I always said the show's first two seasons suffered immensely from the lack of a proper overall plot arc. And the best thing about last night was

The scenes with the civil servant and the alien. Amazing.

I agree. I lot of people having been saying that. You could have cut the tension with a knife in those scenes.

If the Beeb cancel TW after this, well then they even bigger idiots then I give them credit for.

I think that scene was most effective because of the periods of silence. It's not that you didn't know HOW the Alien would answer, or WHEN, but IF it would even respond.

Yeah, I'm loving it, too

The aliens are definitely from the "less is more" school, and are absolutely chilling.

And I knew it was coming sooner or later, but it was still hard to finally see Jack's feet of clay.

But are we really seeing them for the first time? He did give that little girl to the fairies in series 1...

Mmmm. I suppose. But she really wanted to go, IIRC.

And I suspect 1965 is something similar-- throwing virgins to the dragon, as Grim put it, to spare the village.

Yes, I was VERY impressed with that. I dunno, I can hate RTD with a passion sometimes. And sometimes he writes something like this and I just want to hug him.
