So I asked on our Whedonesque account on Twitter (18,000 followers so you get a good sample) "Do you like the Buffy Season 8 comic books?". So far about 90- 95% of respondees do.

Well, going by my experience here at LJ in comparison to the larger Whedonesque pool you just sampled, it appears that there are some very vocal detractors here on LJ. I've actually had some Season 8 fans say they don't talk about it here on LJ because they expect that no one wants to hear they like the comic. :-/

It might be a generation thing as well. Those who've been around longer in the fandom tend to be on LJ, newer fans tweet.

Could be. And newer fans might be more accepting of the story continuing than fans who have the door shut on canon for 4 years when Season 8 first began.
