sombrefanThe Buffy fandom reminds me of Northern Irish politics. Hatred, irrationality and bitterness when it looks like the other side is going to win. Though to be fair to the Spike fans, at least they're not doing the equivalent of "Buffy likes the cock". Cause that phrase was a particular charming highlight during the early days in season 8 when it looked Bangel was over and Batsu was in.
Because gentle reader it's the same old faces doing the same old arguments for the last 10 years. The factions now have no time for each other on a personal level and they're encased in their own little bubbles where everything is lovely and sweet and no one argues with them. It's only when Joss comes along with a pin do things get very angsty. Meanwhile the general fans just roll their eyes and move on.
