Those that been pilloried for daring to suggest that the latter half of Buffy was superior were now the same people who were mocking those who liked season 8.

Having solved that mystery, I'll go onto investigate those who praise Apple but savage Microsoft for their monopolist ways.

Speaking solely for myself, I haven't had much faith in Joss since mid-Season 6 and that was supposedly when I "got my ship." And I was bitching during Season 6 that after certain point the nudity in that season had become gratuitous. (I likened it yesterday to my reaction to "True Blood" last season where the first on-screen orgy served a purpose in the plot, but by the third it was not only gratuitous, they'd somehow managed to make sex BORING... and I ship absolutely no one on that show. So what's my excuse for being bored by there?)

It's just possible that people can be criticize stuff for reasons other than ship -- like pacing, plot holes, repetitive story devices, general ridiculousness, unrecognizable faces in the art, etc.

Mileage varies. And medium varies.

If I were a big comic book consumer and versed in comic book tropes, maybe I'd have that context to place it in. As it is, having been a fan of the series in an entirely different medium, the changes made for a more comic-oriented season has made Season 8 seems years too slow too slow for a tv fan and (I have to be honest) a bit silly.

After the juvenile ridiculousness of the three-way throbbing trains into tunnels scene with cupids and volcanoes way back in... what? Issue 3? I'd categorized the whole exercise as silly (even have the original blog post at the time with my laughing at it to prove it. So it isn't a matter of who is having 'teh sex.')

Maybe I'm just not suited to comics. We're not required to like it, are we?
