Did we all blink and miss this?

Did you know that some 67% of viewers who tune in to watch Buffy slay the evil vampires (in reruns, albeit) are women?

Hmm. The thing with the girl being teased for liking Star Wars was all over LJ not long ago.

True. But the Buffy stat! Interesting! I love finding out about demographics in the fandom.

I would have thought that was obvious myself. I've always seen BTVS as appealing more to women then men, despite the 'kick arse chicks' element.

I have no doubt that it's an accurate stat.

I tried several times to get my father to watch BtVS. He loved the genre and would watch any movie or read any book about vampires that came out. But for some reason, he never would watch Buffy. I honestly think the title put him off.

I find that pretty interesting. I thought it's 50/50 or something like that.

However i've met a lot more women who prefer sharing their thoughts on the show.

It's obvious from the make-up of the fandom but in terms of actual viewers, this is the first I've ever seen a breakdown of the audience in terms of sex.

That's pretty much what I expected.

Just as in my family: BtVS was watched by me, my daughter and my son. :)

I got my brother to watch Firefly but he had no interest in watching Buffy. I think that standard about guys being unable to relate to a female protagonist has something to it, even if I think it's overall a fallacy.
