Seeing as it's the holidays and my body clock is still getting me up at 7am, here's that year pol that's doing the rounds.

1. What did you do in 2003 that you'd never done before?

Proposed. And got a Mutant Enemy writer to apologise in his own way for certain remarks.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

The usually hilarious I'll give up smoking resolution never entered my mind at the start of this year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Just my ego.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

No which makes a nice change. There was a period in my life where every 2 or 3 years a friend of mine would die. Four deaths in 11 years is not good. And thank fuck my mum didn't die either. So relieved that's she made a near full recovery from her haemorrage.

5. What countries did you visit?

The USA.

6. What would you like to have in 2004 that you lacked in 2003?

Write interesting LJ entries.

7. What date from 2003 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

Again with the proposal. That was very special.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

See my first answer for number one.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Heh.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

I got ill for 2 days and so watched season 3 of Angel on DVD.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

Various comic book finds that showed me why traditional print is dead.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

No one springs immediately to mind but I admire Christopher Reeves continuing determination.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

I don't think anyone invoved in the Iraqi conflict distinguished themselves particularly well. The left trotted out a load of old tosh and the right did the same. The poor sods who actually fought on the ground deserved credit (which was why I was pleased to see Time Magazine give the American soldier "Man of the Year" award). In the Buffyverse fan community, new lows were reached which did appall me. I thought I'd see it all after the very personal attacks on Marti Noxon but no it wasn't to be. Various fans and factions appalled me in 2003.

14. Where did most of your money go?

Travelling and cigarrettes.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Going to America for the summer.

16. What song will always remind you of 2003?

Nothing springs to mind.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

Better, a lot better.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

More work.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Been less of an obnoxious ****.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?

Up with my folks and fiancee.

21. Did you fall in love in 2003?

I was already in love this year.

22. How many one-night stands?

Bugger all.

23. What was your favorite TV program?

Angel and Buffy and Firefly. Very sad and predictable.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

Me hating people never achieved anything.

25. What was the best book you read?

There was one yes.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?

I gave up on new music this year. I reached the point where I couldn't be bothered.

27. What did you want and get?

Hehe. More influence in various places.

28. What did you want and not get?

Manhunt or is it Manhunter for the PS2? Anyway the most morally corrupt game ever apparently. I need nihilism now baby.

29. What was your favorite film of this year?

Well it wasn't the Matrix movies.

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

I was 29 it was still springtime in Paris and I was meeting up with an FSB agent to discuss the Ukraine's nuclear weapons programme. Either that or it was a normal day as usual.

31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

An interview with Joss Whedon.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2003?

Jeans and tshirt.

33. What kept you sane?

Robyn, me and cigs.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

The engineer and companion off Firefly.

35. What political issue stirred you the most?

There was only one political issue this year wasn't there?

36. Who did you miss?

John Ritter - always had a soft spot for him.

37. Who was the best new person you met?

I met some very nice people in Vegas.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2003:

Things will happen no matter what you do so why worry about it.

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life and I'm feeling good.
