I said to my mate Samantha the day after he shot himself, that he would be the John Lennon for my generation. Now it turns out my generation really doesn't care and kids who were in their nappies when he was alive now adore him for his attitude to the music industry and what he did to himself.

Course I saw him back in Belfast in '92, which has turned into a legendary gig for all sorts of reasons.

Then I saw his wife in concert a couple of years later, she pimped his memories.

But it was different when I was a teenager. Me and my mates lived in a tiny seaside village on the north coast of Ireland. Very few bands came here to play. We lived on the music papers and their recommendations. Ordered obscure 7 inch singles for even more obscure record labels in the States. So we discovered the band before the masses did. And they were good. And their second album was the bible for us. Changed the music scene. Would have loved to seen what they could have done next.

R.I.P. KC There's been no one like you since. The pretenders to the throne have nothing on you.

I assume you are talking aobut Kurt Cobain. You didnt say.

I was a huge Nirvana fan back in the day and loved Kurt TO DEATH! Literaly I guess. His music was euphoria and his lyrics brilliant poetry. I related so much to his songs.

KC There's been no one like you since. So true, so very fucking true.

Although Thom Yorke of Radiohead is almost close. Nothing has been the icon that Kurt was. I do consider Kurt to be the John Lennon of our generation.

[sigh]

When a person wrestles with that many demons, we shouldn't be surprised when the demons win. But it still seems such a shame.

I just hope that his daughter is doing okay.
