No, no, I'm kidding. There are good fanfic writers out there, but the article writer is right, they don't always get the recognition (and a lot of my faves have stopped writing.) For starters, 99% of highly-recced fic and highly sought-after fic is relationship-heavy. The shows, if you watch objectively, aren't. There may be some melodramatic romance moments, but the bulk of the show is fighting monsters. Character development is integrated among the karate moves and demons with funny names. I've actually gotten a critique on one of my stories that the fighting *slowed the story down,* and (male lead) and (female lead) should have had a love scene. (This is why I don't have beta readers anymore.)

But seriously, fanfic (like any art) should created for yourself first. If other people like it, that's a bonus.
