Why we bother
Jun. 23rd, 2004 09:16 amCultural/media Stuff I am focussing on at the moment:
AICN talkbackers imploding over Michael Moore's Faherenheit 9/11. Have a look here and here. Is there anything worse than reading the rants of left wing and right wing US uber geeks?
Bill Clinton. He's still got it. Watched a very interesting interview with him last night on BBC 1. And lucky old sausages that you are, you can watch it too at the BBC website.
Euro 2004. Despite my teams Spain and Russia getting knocked out (those two I had got for my office sweeps), I'm still taking a look. Like many Scots, Irish, Northern Irish, Welsh I feel a twinge of unease when seeing a resurgence of English patriotism but bless 'em les Anglais are playing well.
The Pixies. They have a new song at iTunes. Bam Thwok indeed.
The less than riveting accounts of cast life on 'Serenity'. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Sorry but it's strange adapting from a Joss tv series to a Joss movie. Still some people are interested. But lets be honest, would you rather have an Angel season 6 or a Firefly movie?

I'm newly (and oddly) fond of the phrase "lucky old sausages".

Now, Firefly left me cold, but I figure that the studios recognize that there will probably be between $35-$40 million USD in domestic tickets alone (~6 million weekly viewers craving more * $6.03 [avg. movie ticket price in the US as of 2003]). It's not an unreasonable investment.
Well...

SWS
If Bill Clinton's still got it...

Date: 2004-06-23 11:33 am (UTC)I was much more emotionally invested in Angel and season 5 got me wanting so much more (Illyria) and it was excruciatingly painful to have it end. Firefly didn't have enough time to get me hooked in that way. I'm glad though that it wasn't about a choice between one or the other. And I'm glad Joss is not without a project. I never want to see that genius out of work.
