Just what is going on at saveangel.org? Is it imploding? The person behind it took the initiative after Angel was cancelled and got a fair bit of publicity until various people and groups in the Buffyverse fan community rose together and created savingangel.org. That site made some valient efforts but alas it was no use.

Anyway mcatwag has posted this all over the saveangel.org forums.

Hi all, there have been some issues that have been kept from you. 5 strategists, with well over 4000 posts, have quit this week. WE, were not terminated as you have been led to believe. The fact of the matter is the administrators here do not want their motives questioned. It has come to my attention that the contest was infact cancelled due to misturst of the motives behind it. WE were here to campaign, however, this site has been used in an unethical way (ask the admins which one bought a new car).

Joss & the Stars have repeatedly asked the fans not to make donations, becasue 2 campaign sites have misappropriated said funds, if you want to give ANGEL your money - go buy a DVD, a book, a trading card. DO NOT give it to any website or campaign.

The prizes for the contest were withdran becasue the stars, the contest comittee, and other Hollywooder's were afraid that they would be MISUSED. The contest in itself was a cloak for a money making scheme.

Campaign hard, but campaign smart.

*UPDATE*

The saveangel.org site is now suspended but before that Simon (for that is the name of the guy who runs it) deleted mcatwag's messages and responded by saying:

" Contrary to what some may have you believe, a group of individuals invited to be part of the campaign formed a clique to secretly use the resources and name of this site in an attempt to get in with the cast and crew of ANGEL. When told repeatedly they could no longer do so, they resigned -- or as in the case of Mcatwag, proceeded to spam the site with baseless accusations to sow negativity and upset. "

Which one was responsible for the Food Drive? I didnt contribute, as I dont have a Pay Pal account, but that I thought was the kind of fan effort to be proud off, Im some what embarrassed by the amount of money thrown away on billboards and trade ads, and this is even more embaressing, but as I didnt put my hand in my pocket, perhaps its not my place to say.

www.angelsfooddrive.com was responsible for the errr food drive. Savingangel.org was responsible for the billboards and trade ads, no one is quite sure what saveangel.org is responsible for.

Aye, I wouldn't want other fan campaigns to be tarred with the same brush. And I notice that the site has now been suspended.
