Official: Brosnan quits!

'Juan Carlos' alerted us that Pierce Brosnan is quitting Bond after four 007 movies.

In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly Brosnan says, "That's it, I've said all I've got to say on the world of James Bond.''

The door is wide open for replacement which include, Clive Owen, Ioan Gruffudd, Colin Firth, Hugh Grant, Gerard Butler, Jude Law, and Ewan McGregor, as well as Aussies Hugh Jackman, Heath Ledger, and Eric Bana.

Hubby votes for James Marsters, mainly because Spike says wanker and bloody alot

Of the ones you've mentioned it'll probably be a toss up between Clive Owen and Ioan Gruffudd.

On a side note, did you you know that Ioan Gruffudd was just plain Ian Griffith when he first started out?

Oooh. I second the Denisof reccomendation. I'm pretty sure Hollywood will want a bigger name though, unfortunately. Denisof would be excellent in that role though.

Of that group, I'd go with Clive.

Otherwise, I'd probably vote none of the above. McGregor, while charming enough to be Bond, and damn good in everything he's in (excluding Star Wars, though that's hardly his fault), is probably a bit TOO likeable to pull off darker side of Bond's attitude. Ledger would look woefully out of his depth in the role. Jackman would have the required intensity, but...well, did you actually SEE Swordfish? Firth and Grant are too stumbly-cutesy. Bana's too mopey. I don't know how Butler got on the list. He's too sidekicky. He'd be the 00-agent that would die, sending Bond over the edge into a revenge kick. I get the feeling that Gruffudd's stock kind of depended upon King Arthur, and that tanked. Law would make Bond way too serious and try actually "acting." So yeah, I guess I'll go with Owen. Heh.
