Stargate: SG1 was so much fun last night, really felt like old school Stargate. And despite my indifference to its spin-off, Atlantis redeemed itself wonderfully last night. There was a terrific camera shot involving Teyla which was worthy of Spielberg or Scorsese. And the episode itself actually had some very tense and moving moments. So it's gone up a lot in my estimation.

And truth be known, I keep an eye on eye on other fandoms. The Star Trek one is in chaos at the minute. Imagine if a majority of Buffy fans had hated Angel from the start and saying how awful it was compared to Buffy. And when Angel got cancelled, instead of a united fan campaign to save the show it was a piece meal half hearted effort. Well that's what it's like in regards to Enterprise. There's even a site that urges fans to send letters to UPN congratulating them for cancelling it.

Moving onto Alias and Lost, I'm picking up signs of a renewed backlash against JJ Abrams. Today Herc at Aintitcool voiced his dissatisfaction with the current season of Alias (spoilerish btw). And in this article about Lost (again spoilerish btw), certain comments mirror complaints at Whedonesque about the alleged meandering complex storyline. Now I haven't seen the show but I've been highly impressed by the devotion its getting and how passionate its fans are. However, there does seem to be parallels between JJ splitting his time between two hit shows and Joss dividing his time between Buffy, Angel and Firefly. We'll have to wait and see what happens.
