A thrilling Canadian political drama

Normally, that phrase would strike fear in the heart of any man. But last night I saw a trailer for "H20: The Last Prime Minister", which promised to be a "thrilling Canadian political drama" (You've already used that one). Now Canadian politics interest me as much as the politics of Portugal (I was going to say Belgium, but frances_lievens is from there. And why aren't you reading her LJ? It's possibly the best thing around). So after a far too sentimental episode of House, I sat down to watch it.

And grrrr.

What's worst than watching a really bad Canadian political thriller? Finding out it's the second part of a really bad Canadian political thriller. After a 5 minute recap of what happened in the first part, I was practically none the wiser as to what was going on. Some Prime Minister had been killed in a tragic boat accident (isn't that always the case?) and his son had taken over and he was evil. And was trying to unify Canada with the United States (I think - it wasn't quite clear). And Quebec was getting blamed and some Indian tribe was conspiring against them. I half heartedly watched it and was intermittedly stunned by the bad dialogue.

"Why should I believe you?"

"Because I am the Solictor General of Canada!".

A line that no doubt would thrill any maiden's heart. Presumably had it been set in Portugal, it would have been:

"Por que devo eu o acreditar?"

"Porque eu sou o general de Solictor de Portugal!"

And there was something going on with water rights as well. "H20: The Last Prime Minister" kinda gave that away one, I suppose. So I have no idea what happened at the end. But I vow to watch it from the beginning next time it is repeated on Hallmark. And if anyone else has seen it, do let me know what you thought of it.

Next LJ entry will be about Revelations, a US imported show about the End of Days (or the End of Bill Pullman's Acting Career - whatever comes first). Looks awful, so must see TV for me.

Not only are Belgian politics as interesting as let's say Luxemburg's, they're also as complicated as ... erm ... Belgian politics. Did I ever mention the six governments in a country that has a population of 10 million?

Oooh, I wanted to see H20 because it had Leslie Hope in it, but alas, I spent my weekend in a drunken stupour - no time for political drama methinks.

Although, given the state of The West Wing these days, thats probably the best time for them :)

Actually, Canadian tv is pretty lame. Although there are exceptions, the vast majority of it is crap.
