Bush got pwned. Not sure that the country/world are any better off with the Republicans in Congress calling the shots, but he would need a dramatic popularity reversal to avoid becoming the earliest lame duck 2nd term President in history (don't know that it's ever happened BEFORE the midterm elections). Just hope all those people who now say they'd elect a Democrat remember that in three years when we've got whomever the Right pushes to replace Miers on the Supreme Court for life.
