Oh here's an idea, how to get more people on board for a Spike movie

The release of Serenity drew many new people in the Firefly online fandom.

The Firefly DVD boxset is selling amazingly.

The Buffyverse online fandom has declined since Buffy and Angel went off the air.

Those that remain have rallied round the idea of a Spike movie.

However some vocal diehard Spike fans have reservations regarding Joss Whedon.

They don't like that he loves Firefly so much.

And then there's the perception that Joss regards Nathan Fillion more than James Marsters.

Serenity's relative failure at the box office has made it highly unlikely that a sequel will happen (despite Joss' words on the matter).

However, many of the Firefly/Serenity fans will still want to see a new Joss project.

But many of them have never seen Buffy or Angel.

Spike fans want to see a Joss project about Spike.

You can see where this is going.

It would be sensible for the Spike fandom to make bread with the Firefly fandom.

Such as "Hey you like Joss, have you watched his previous shows"?

And if it works.

Why not approach the Firefly fandom with "We'd like a Spike movie. I reckon you guys would like it too"?

I believe that you would get many new fans coming and adding fresh impetus to getting a Spike movie.

I write this because I'm tired of the sniping between the fandoms.

I'm tired of seeing Firefly/Serenity rubbished in certain quarters.

I'm also tired of seeing Buffy and Angel sneered at and looked down at because it's not Firefly.

It's time to move on.

Work together.

Huh. I must be hanging out in the backwaters of fandom, because everyone I know is a fan of both Buffy/Angel and Serenity.

Vampires are pretty hot right now. A Spike movie would be pretty accessable even for non-Whedon fans, right?

Are you sure about that? I'd say some, but not as many as.. 'many'.

Fuck yea!! A girl actually came up to me at a con and started spouting about how Firefly is SO much better than Buffy and Angel because at least their actors are still working. Then I had to point out that most of the cast of Buffy and Angel are starring in tv shows like Bones, How I Met Your Mother, Smallville, ect..
