Been ages since I read any new spoilers for the Buffyverse. Anyhow here's what happens in the third and final act of the Spike DVD movie and how it will feed directly into the Ripper one.
Xander does indeed kill Spike in the final few minutes. Giles must delve into his Ripper past to confront him.
