I'm going for England.

Date: 2006-06-09 12:05 am (UTC)To me, the USA doesn't deserve it. Football (soccer) has never taken off over here, and most of the players are imports anyways.
I can root for England, for obvious reasons.
I'll admit to wanting the French to do well. I feel they get a bad rap in the global gossip rounds.
All of that said, something makes me want to root for Austrailia...

Date: 2006-06-09 01:05 am (UTC)Oh, yes. Germany, too.
Date: 2006-06-09 01:16 am (UTC)Re: a USA bus in Germany:
"Team USA's World Cup bus has the slogan 'United we play, United we win' emblazoned on it. Wouldn't 'If it wasn't for us, you'd all be speaking German' be more appropriate?" - Danny Guest.
From the Fiver (The Guardian) letters.
LMAO. Us poor jerky Americans.

Date: 2006-06-09 03:50 pm (UTC)The US should get out of it's group into the round of 16.
Along with Germany, Poland, England, Sweden, Argentina, Ivory Coast, Mexico, Portugal, Italy, Brazil, Australia, France, South Korea, Spain and yes, Saudi Arabia.
The next round will leave us with Germany, England, Argentina, Mexico, USA (I hope), Brazil, France and Spain (possibly Saudi Arabia).
The quarters will whittle it down to Germany and Mexico (or England), Brazil and France.
In the semis we'll have Brazil and Germany come out.
I don't need to see Brazil win it so, I'll go with "the stern" and take Germany to win it all.
Questions? Comments? Threats?
Bring 'em on!
