So according to SFX magazine, here's the 20 shows that shaped sci-fi.

20) Knightrider (no, really)
19) Captain Video
18) The Prisoner
17) V
16) Battlestar Galactica (new version)
15) Lost
14) Kolchak: The Night Stalker
13) Battle of the Planets
12) Fireball XL5
11) Doctor Who
10) Twin Peaks
9) The Avengers
8) Quatermass
7) The Incredible Hulk
6) Batman
5) Babylon 5
4) Buffy the Vampire Slayer
3) The Twilight Zone
2) The X-Files
1) Star Trek

Most of them seem an obvious choice (well apart from number 20).

OK, right off the bat, I have problem with the entire premise:

The top shows that SHAPED Sci-Fi? The number one show should be "Wagon Train," as that was what "influenced and shaped" Star Trek.

But sticking with a Sci-fi premise:

- Battlestar Galactica (new version): Too new to be considered. Hasn't been on long enough to "influence" anything.
- Twin Peaks: Not Sci-fi
- Lost: Same as BSG. Too new.
- Knight Rider: uhhh.... apparently they felt the need to put one crappy show in there?

Yeah, that I agree with. Buffy is to be considered "Sci-Fi" when looking at the major genres of Television: Drama, Crime, Comedy, Western, Sci-Fi...
