Well that's the balloon gone up
Mar. 23rd, 2007 12:31 pmIn the old days, we'd send in a gunboat to sort it all out. These days we'd send in the SAS.

Date: 2007-03-28 11:14 am (UTC)my thoughts, going out into their waters under the protection of a UN mandate is all well and good, if everybody is playing by the UN's rules - if not, 15 guys end up in a detention facility somewhere with our (UK) government talking about things entering a different phase if negotiation for their release doesnt work, while ruling out Diplomatic sanctions and military action in the same sentance
I'd assume we know what they want in exchange for the guys and we'll be bending over and giving it to them in short order - i'd be for sending in the SAS, an armoured division, a couple of gunships and whatever else we have kicking around to sit just outside their borders to "safely escort our personel home upon their speedy release"
However, the world would be a different place if i were allowed to weigh in on Foreign policy
