I checked CNN.com to see this French election thing for myself. The yellow "news alert" banner informs me that eight US soldiers were killed in various bombings in Iraq today. The lead story is a picture of tornado damage in the midwest with a headline and blurb saying that the death toll stands at 10. In fairness, the French election does occupy the top slot in the "top stories" list (a whole six slots above the results of the boxing match last night), but I skimmed right over it without noticing it because this is the first I've heard of Sarkozy. Strangely, the French election also isn't important enough to make the top three "world" news stories (two small plane crashes and something on Pakistani domestic politics), though it does have the top slot, and even a picture of the winner, if you go to the World News sub-page.
I wonder is this "France" country is very important? :-/
"On the hand, Manchester Utd won the Premiership. So at least something good came out of today" <---- the only good thing about that is it wasnt Chelsea.
Sad state of American news
