Our beloved First Minister's wife Iris Robinson now thinks "the government has a responsibility to uphold God's laws morally". She's also an elected representative and considers homosexuality to be an "abomination". She recommended that gays see a psychiatrist she knows as "he tries to help homosexuals trying to turn away from what they are engaged in". This is being said in a country in Western Europe. Not in the Middle East. You would have to wonder what the reaction would be in other countries. I'd like to think condemnation followed by resignation of the politician who said it.

Here's some background reading material about the controversy.

This is the kind of people I wish to hit over the head with a plank.

I probably will get arrested doing it, but at least it will give me some kind of fulfilment.

Well...

In about 2/3 of the U.S. you're pretty much UNelectable unless you declare your commitment to Christ. Sad but true.

Wouldn't fly in Canada. Resignation is a possibility, but more likely a public apology and promise never to say such things again. Private slaps on the back from some members, particularly of they're the currnet Republi--oops, Conservatives.
