A political dilemna (Northern Ireland's long hot summer part 2)

Amazingly (or depressingly depending on your p.o.v.) all the major policial parties* here are uniting to try and stop the national parliament from imposing legalised abortion in Northern Ireland. At the moment, women here have the right to access information about abortion but have to go across to the mainland (i.e. the rest of the UK) to get an abortion. As you can imagine, much unnecessary trauma follows as a result. Regional autonomy versus the woman's right to choose. Unfortunately in this case you can't have both.

I only found out during the fertility bill/42 days bill that Northern Ireland had different abortion laws from the rest of us, which surprised me.

It surprises a lot of people. Despite being part of the Union since the 1920s we've always been slightly different when it comes to certain legal aspects (30 years behind the mainland in some cases).
