Fox premiering Dollhouse on February Friday 13th is not a good sign. That date is already well known to the fandom as it's the day we found out Angel got cancelled back in 2004.
I don't know how well known that factoid is, but it's pretty well known that Friday is the night shows go to die. Plus given everything that's happened so far during production, the 13th thing is just another bad omen.
I think really, since the debut of TiVo, the day doesn't matter all that much any more. But that's just me, and I work in healthcare, not, you know, teevee.
You know I don't work in teevee because there isn't a 24/7 Joss Whedon channel.
Somewhere I read that they are comparing Dollhouse to My Own Worst Enemy, which isn't doing too well in the ratings.
The reality is that Whedon fans will watch anything he does, regardless of when it's on. We have DVR. The problem is that there just aren't enough Whedon fans to get the numbers networks demand. Agreed that Friday nights are bad telly nights, unless you are SciFi, which is able to maintain their Friday night shows.

Date: 2008-11-07 12:38 pm (UTC)Are they just going to go off on their different "assignments" each week - retaining knowledge and working towards getting free?
I hope to be wrong, but i expect to Meh after the 3rd or 4th episode - and cancellation before the first season ends

Date: 2008-11-07 03:19 pm (UTC)Second season has been a little weird, however the 1st, 3rd & 4th episodes have been amazing
I expect they will kill it in the friday death slot though.....
At least they got extended a full season.

They are already comparing it to MOWE
