By all accounts Twilight is going to storm the box-office. Would 20th Century Fox greenlight a Buffy movie to cash in on the vampire romance fever?

Yes, but Buffy would need to be played by Milly Cyrus.

It's not the vampire fans that'll make the money for them, it's the tweens and teens.

And True Blood is getting fairly popular too.

I would love to think 20th Century Fox would do it, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

And I enjoy the Twilight books, and I'm in my 30's...

I don't think there is as much in common as there may seem to be. I am fully immersed in Twilight obsession right now, yet I admit that it is very weak in character development, wit, metaphor, and humor--unlike Buffy. And Buffy is not nearly as much about romance as Twilight, which I believe is the reason for all the mania. It is impossibly romantic in a way that becomes consuming :) Buffy would have to be entirely reinvented to revolve around a central love story rather than have the love story be one of many threads.
