The bit about familar love interests re-appearing in the two page online Buffy comic. Cause you know, any excuse to start a battle royale of the shippers ;).
The more they play fast and lose with unresolved plot points like this, the less respect I have for this company I'm afraid.
They should either concentrate on this 'brave new world' that Joss has shaped the Buffyverse into and forget all about the TV show, or just resolve things in a proper dramatic fashion. Just not piss away what could be great little bits of drama away with stupid gimmicks such as this one. So far any dramatic resolution for anything has been very thin on the ground. The last issue was pants yet again!
But hey, I suppose at the end of the day these comics aren't the real show, and so what does it mater. *g*
I though the last arc could be stronger as it was a bit piecemeal. But Petrie nailed the Buffy/Xander scenes. Espenson's upcoming arc should be interesting.
Are you reading Aftermath? I like it but it's very much a comic book.
Sadly I hate Aftermath. I think it's even worse then season 8 and thats saying something!
Thing is I think Joss has badly misjudged the pacing in these comics. You can't treat them like a TV show, and so the end result so far has been long waits with occasional bouts of frustrating ball dropping and anticlimaxes.
Ah, yes, in the series. His arc had a pretty solid ending, I thought, even if As You Were was so full of plot holes you could drive a truck through them. Someone at Whedonesque once pointed out to me that Riley was the only charater on Btvs to have a happy ending.
SHHH! Don't say that too loud! Joss might hear you and decide to snatch the rug out from under him and kill the wifey and turn him into some half-tree cyborg or something!
Someone elsewhere was complaining that the newbs to fandom keep writing really bad ship fic. I posited we wrote really bad 'ship fic and then got better at it. :D
(I haven't read, oh, the last seven issues of Buffy. I need to suck it up and read them, huh?)
