Whilst there was a lot of crap going on in the olden days of the Buffy fandom, let's not forget the good stuff (of which there were many).

1) The fevered debates after each episode aired
2) The friendships/love affairs/marriages that formed in the fandom
3) Slash!
4) A worthy female role model
5) Epic threads regarding slivers of spoilers
6) Shippers (love 'em or hate 'em - they would be missed if we didn't have 'em)
7) Everyone and their mother creating fansites - it was the age of Geocities
8) The warm relationship between the writers/actors and the fans
9) The VHS boxsets - oh so pretty (and bulky)
10) Waiting for the summary of the wildfeed to be posted

So if you were around, what are your fond memories of the fandom when the show was on the air

The limericks and poems we wrote on the Angel MB after each episode aired. The extremely civil shipping war threads on that board, which were awesome and epic.

The many and various discussions and debates at The Bronze that sometimes lasted for weeks and/or months at a time.

But I think the best thing of all about fandom was finding people who liked Btvs and Ats as much as I did.

Also:

Slash! Fanfiction! Icons! Fanart.

And I still have my season 2 and three VHS boxsets.

I loved the essays and debates on the All Things Philosophical... board. It spoiled me for the rest of the internet - things were (mostly) so civilized and spell-checked!

Didn't The StakeHouse have a member who everyone was convinced was David Fury cause of his tantalising and surreal spoilers?

Staying up late Sunday night to read the Wildfeed summary as soon as it came out (and getting into chat with all the other insane people who were doing the same thing).

The Saturday rewatch chat that we had with the folks out on BtVS-TabulaRasa (or maybe it was BAPS), where we'd all queue up the episode and rewatch it together, discussing things along the way.

Waking up at 2am to get the 3am or 4am wildfeed... my co-workers thought I was nuts. And then, finally as I had the whole damn system streamlined, they go and end the show. Figures. :P

I was always impressed by the packaging for the region 2 Buffy DVD's especially that first season.

And nobody ever really got on with my Marcie ("Out of mind, Out of sight")/Phantom Dennis ship!
