Is there any evidence to suggest that rival shipping factions in the Buffy fandom are getting on better with each other? Or it is still the "we're perfect and it's all the other side's fault" fighting that I remember?

Well I did have this somewhat naive view that the personality clashes were diminishing.

My perception is that they tend to avoid each other, keeping to separate corners of the fandom. Then again, maybe that's just me avoiding the highly charged areas of fandom.

I spent two years thinking yes, then got a rude awakening to NO.

I honestly had really thought the shippers had learned to live in perfect harmony.

Until the fucking in space happened.

Now everyone's stopped drinking Coke, dammit.

I think they mostly get on by avoiding each other - at least the saner ones do. The loonies on each side still seem to be raring for a fight.

Mind you, I've been impressed by the standard of comments on the Cultural Learnings blog. No shipper wars yet (he's just got past Darla/FFL) and only one or two "It all went downhill after S3" comments, and nobody rose to the bait.

Perhaps there's hope. Say by the twentieth anniversary of NFA...
