What to take from the preview of Buffy #36

Future Angel? Did anyone speculate about that?
The last time Angel experienced the big O, it didn't go well.
Angel is a lot stronger than I remember.

Meta "twitchy" comment on the Buffy finale?
We will never get an explanation of the PTB, higher powers etc. Joss makes it up as he goes along. Deal.
Did Wesley come back to life?
The airplane exploding panel is stunning, Jeanty nailed that one.

I always thought that Future-Angel doesn't make sense because of the existence of the present one in another publishing house. But maybe IDW will send him into the future in their last issue.

I have the impression that he's already juiced up when he arrives to LA in #36 flashback.

PTB, Oracles, Universe - they all are Joss' aliases.

At this moment in time i think of season 8 as one big meta commentary of BtVS (and stories in general). I cannot make any sense of it otherwise. The DOG/GOD (good call, Elena) licking it's own balls, the "romance" between Buffy and Angel as forced by the writers, the "romance" between Buffy and Xander as no-go area as written by the writers, the slayer spell "unbalancing the world" (the narrative), the powers (writers) messing up the plot, the shout-outs to the superhero genre, etcpp.

Perhaps season 9 will give us back some actual stories - there are enough hints and ideas floating around in season 8 to make compelling (future) stories, but ATM they are all shoved to the background.

Possibly Joss regards this season as transitional. The end of one world as we know it and the beginning of a new one. If that's the case, the new world will probably be constructed similarly to the universe of Marvel Comics. Many superheroes who inhabit the same universe; each hero has his/her own stories, and they regularly guest-star in each other series.

Willow one-shot shows that Joss has a lot of ideas for her, and Spike's steam-punk ship is an indication that Joss was only half-joking when he said that he could imagine Spike in "Serenity"-verse. :)
