I didn't get that they were mocking the fandom. They were mocking a person who has a website and message board that no one posts on but her. A lot. The particular fandom is irrelevant.
Well, in fairness, it is mean. It's just mean to one person in particular. Mind you, I'm just glad the author only touched the tip of the proverbial iceberg. Can't imagine what he'd say if he discovered how wall-lickingly batshit the rest of the fandom is.
I agree, it is mean. And I actually vaguely remember this person pushing her site on other message boards and fanlists, back in the day. But I don't feel insulted as a Buffy fan. And honestly, as a regular reader of cracked.com, I don't think they intended to single out Buffy fans, either. A lot of them seem to be fans, themselves, which may explain how this site passed across their radar screen in the first place.
