So Americans don't know what salad cream is and may eat swedes but are not sure.

These are the important non-fandom things I think about.

Salad cream?!?! *snorfles*

Okay, I'm assuming you mean mayo. (And again with the ewww.)

Oh, yuck! Double ewwww!

It's very tasty. Goes well with lettuce and tomato.

I know most people like things like that. But to me, that's really yucky. I don't put dressing of any kind on my salads.

I might have condiment issues. :D

I can't eat a salad with out a dressing. And I am vehemently opposed to warm salads.

Well, at least I agree with you on warm salads. I don't care for them, either.

You don't like Ranch?

The South judges you.

No! I do not. The scent of ranch is not appealing to me and the less said about the taste, the better. :D

I like the taste of my salad veggies clean, not covered up by other flavors that I don't care for.

Salad cream is not mayo.

Salad cream: a creamy, yellow condiment based on an emulsion of about 25-50 percent of oil in water, emulsified by egg yolk and acidified by spirit vinegar, and with other ingredients which may include sugar, mustard, salt, thickener, spices, flavouring and colouring.

Mayo: a stable emulsion of oil, egg yolk and either vinegar or lemon juice[2], with many options for embellishment with other herbs and spices.

Is this like a trick question where you explain how all the food in (American) Mexican restaurants is actually incredibly different even though it's all just tortillas, meat and cheese?

Go to your local English delicacy store and see for yourself. Try the brown sauce as well.

I don't have the time or the money to visit England at the moment, Simon. Unless you're offering?

No, but really I've never noticed it around where I live. I'd have an easier time finding an Asian market.

If I was a millionaire philanthropist , yes indeed. Sadly I'm not :(.

Amazon.co.uk (http://www.amazon.co.uk/b/ref=amb_link_158822607_1?ie=UTF8&node=533019031&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=left-2&pf_rd_r=12H8C9TQH9KKP30F3QEH&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=223281147&pf_rd_i=367642031) has started American food. At a vastly inflated price by the looks of things.

Salad cream started out as the poor man's mayo. It is distantly related, but flows more and has a more mustardy flavour. Personally, I'll stick with proper mayonnaise, merci.

'Americans may eat Swedes'? Hmmm, I had better warn the two people from Sweden that I know, they have a close American friend and may not be aware this his friendship is a prelude to possible cannibalism...

Or is it cannibalism when it is an American doing it? Aren't they a whole different, alien species? :)
