Or is there a distinct lack of buzz about the Torchwood episodes that are airing at the moment? I don't think I've ever seen less online chatter about a Torchwood series. Which is a shame cause the first three episodes are proving to be quite enjoyable.

I have to be honest, I've found the first three episodes be slow and complicated to the point where I'm having trouble following the story (and I've watched each episode twice.) I think RTD is trying to make some sort of political/social points, but I have no idea what they are, and the false tension about Jack's "mortality" is weighing the whole thing down. Gwen hasn't really been given much to do, and all the new characters are either unlikeable or unengaging. And I usually really like Mehki Pfeiffer and Bill Pullman.

I know these criticisms probably don't mean much, seeing how much I disliked the ending of Children of Earth, but I'm trying to watch this with an open mind and it's not grabbing me at all.

One other possibility-- Starz is probably the least popular of the "premium cable" channels (one for which subscribers are charged individually.) I personally don't know anyone who has it.

I watched the first and kinda lost interest, finding it extremely uneven.

Those friends who are watching it assure me it gets better and I keep telling myself I'll sit down and watch two and three, but I always end up watching something else instead. I wouldn't be surprised if others are thinking they'll just do a marathon of the whole thing once it hits Netflix or DVD.

I have to agree with Kuzibah, which you know as you sit next to me as I tell you I find it 'meh'.

Except for the Starz part, didn't know that, but I agree the story is choppy, the new characters are boring me and I miss Ianto.

I also think an entire show that revolves around the inability of people to die would be much more tense than it is. I personally can't seem to care the world population is soon to be untenable on the show.

Yeah, this show needs Ianto the same way eps. I-III of Star Wars needed a Han Solo character. If there isn't someone around to take the piss out of all these overly-serious heroes, it gets tedious.
