Thanks for the definition of a Spikengularity. Why do you think one is coming?

During most of Season 8, if you were primarily a Spike fan you stayed on the sidelines commenting where appropriate. It was when Buffy & Angel had sex in space and Spike appeared did the Spike fandom get drawn in. And in that brief period, fractures did appear in the Spike fandom and fans did their best to keep things together. This is to be admired as it doesn't often work.

Worst case scenario:

Now from what I can see, a lot of fans did get really excited with the Spike mini-comic that Jane wrote and have projected that Season 9 will be more of the same. I think this attitude may be heading for a fall and something will happen that will cause an unholy row. Particularly because now the Spike fandom and Season 9 will now go hand in hand.

Best case scenario:

On the other hand, Spike fans could get what they want. A well written character with a definitive and lasting answer to his relationship with Buffy.

Either scenario will cause permanent change in the Spike fandom.
