Vaudeville on the mind
Oct. 10th, 2003 09:55 amThe best political article I read all week (and let's ignore Arnie cause that's just getting tedious very quickly) was Michael Billington's review of Ian Duncan Smith's piss poor and venomous speech at the Conservative Party Conference in Blackpool yesterday. Any writer who compares that clapped out politician to Archie Rice from The 'Entertainer' deserves an award.
So the new Michael Moore book "Dude, Where's My Country?" is out. Bought it yesterday, working through it today. It'll be painful reading for the reactionary right in the States but then I doubt that lot will read it anyway. They're all probably still orgasming over that blonde bimbo who said Joe McCarthy was a great American.
Still love the R.E.M. video fo Bad Day but the new Muse video "Time is Running Out" is a real grower (ya can download on their official site). It won a Q award don't you know. The singer really reminds me of Brett from Suede.
Speaking of Suede, their new singe "Attitude" released for their singles collection has John Hurt playing Brett as an old clapped vaudeville queen. Go have a look on their website.
