Feb. 5th, 2004 08:34 pmUS national outcry (or so it seems from afar in Europe) over Janet Jackson's breast. And now I read that E.R. has taken the decision to trim a glimpse of an 80-year-old's breasts during an emergency procedure due to and I quote "atmosphere created by this week's events has made it too difficult for many of our affiliates to air this show". Cue outrage from John Wells, executive producer. The Parent Television Council, who love to jump on any passing moral bandwagon, said it was "the right decision".
Meanwhile in dear old Blighty, John Lydon (him of the Sex Pistols) says c*** on primetime TV and no one really cares. An article in the Guardian argues that swearing is losing its power to shock. And believe me, we're all wondering what the fuss is about Janet's breast. Apparently 50% of the population have them.
In other news, independent inquiries are being set up in the States and the UK about intelligence gathering in regards to Weapons of Mass Distraction in Iraq. Not expecting much from the UK one (our elite works in mysterious ways) but I'm guessing that the US inquiry will be more vigorous and ummm inquiring. Those who criticise the nature of US government should realise its vastly more preferable to what exists in Europe.

Europe has such an open and clean view of it--there's no hiding or dishonesty. And I like it..not just cause magazines are more likely to show the bare breast of a hottie...but because there's no stigma--it is what it is.
thank Jebus for Lydon. Live tv and people thought what? He had been tamed? HA! Good for him. And good for people not caring. That shouldn't draw your ire (what kid wants to watch reality programming anyways?)
I love how Bush wants to look at the intelligence surrounding the WMDs. Hey, George ol'boy a LOT of people have wanted to find the intelligence in that too.
as a US Ex-Pat living in the UK...

So we discovered that JJ has a breast.
