Deep thoughts
Feb. 26th, 2004 03:33 pmI'm off work today due to crappy cold thing. So I'm thinking about things more than usual.
1) Is Angel entitled to another season?
2) If two adults love each deeply and are prepared to spend the rest of their lives together, does it matter what sex they are when it comes to marriage?
3) Has anyone else noticed that the most important and influential people in the Buffy/Angel fanverse are all women?
4) Where is all this LJ spam promoting the Passion of Christ coming from?
5) Who should replace Cheney as the vice-presidential candidate for the Republican party?
If you've any answers or even deeper thoughts than these, do post them.

Date: 2004-02-26 07:49 am (UTC)Yes. I'm enjoying this season more than I have snce they moved into the Hyperion.
2) If two adults love each deeply and are prepared to spend the rest of their lives together, does it matter what sex they are when it comes to marriage?
Considering many people who marry aren't prepared to spend the rest of their lives together, no.
3) Has anyone else noticed that the most important and imfluential people in the Buffy/Angel fanverse are all women?
That's true of most fandoms. The people who actually do the cons/websites/gatherings/etc. are usually women, just because women (for whatever reason) tend toward the facilitator/organizer/communicator role in things.
4) Where is all this LJ spam promoting the Passion of Christ coming from?
I haven't seen any.
5) Who should replace Cheney as the vice-presidential candidate for the Republican party?
I still like Colin Powell.
If Bush wants to win...
Date: 2004-02-26 08:15 am (UTC)Rudy Guiliani. It'll turn New York into a swing state leaning Republican, and truly and completely fuck over the eventual Democratic nominee, particularly if it's Kerry, as he's predicated his victory plan on winning entirely in the North. Plus, Guiliani is evil, so he won't clash with the rest of the top administration official's ethical and moral character.

3. It's a weird weird thing to think that Angel has turned into a huge sausage fest this season. Sorry, but I need a little cleavage-clad lass named Anya to make an appearance.
4. Don't know. I don't have any.
5. Is he stepping down? I did not know.
Stepping on a potential landmine here.
Date: 2004-02-26 08:37 am (UTC)2) (Here's the landmine) Marriage is a religious term that has been co-opted by secular authorities. Should same sex couples be allowed to "marry"? That depends on the religion involved. Should same sex couples be entitled to the same rights as hetero couples under the law? Yes, but it is not technically (nor should it be called) a "marriage." It should be called a civil union. Should a Constitutional amendment be made? Hell no! Stop fucking with the most important document in recent history for personal reasons.
3) No. It's not really important.
4) Huh?
5) Bobo The Wonder Monkey? Anybody with opposable thumbs? I would have said Colin Powell before the Iraq War, but he showed that he was either a lackey or so totally uninformed/misinformed that he is not capable of handling the office.
I agree with you...

Joss has a Freudian complex.Read the question wrong. I've noticed.4) I've not seen it, but have seen complaints about it. No clue.
5) Giuliani would be interesting. Lieberman would be MORE interesting. Dean would be a sitcom. I hadn't even heard he was being replaced, so I'd have to research.

3) See BuhBuh's entry for our observations on how all those women suffer horrible fates.
4) My journal isn't important enough to get spammed.
5) Can the puppet replace the puppeteer? Seriously, I hadn't heard any serious talk of a swap, though I suppose anything's possible. If Bush knows what's good for him, he'll get someone slightly more popular.

3) Oh? Are you a woman now, Simon?
4) It comes from God. He recently got a new computer and LJ account.

5)[evil grin] Mary Cheney. There would be no more talk of constitutional amendments then.
My two cents
Date: 2004-02-26 01:06 pm (UTC)2) Not in the least.
3) Hadn't noticed it, but it doesn't shock me.
4) I'm guessing 4th Circle or lower. ;)
5) There's no way Cheney gets replaced on the ticket this late in the game (and how sad is it that nine months before the election is too late in the game), unless "health reasons" crop up. If that were to happen, I'm going with a dark horse contender: Tom Ridge.

2) If two adults love each deeply and are prepared to spend the rest of their lives together, does it matter what sex they are when it comes to marriage?
Not in my opinion. True love cannot, by its very nature, be wrong.
3) Has anyone else noticed that the most important and influential people in the Buffy/Angel fanverse are all women?
Really? *shrugs* Hadn't noticed. Not even sure I know who the important and influential people are. :)
4) Where is all this LJ spam promoting the Passion of Christ coming from?
I must have missed that.
5) Who should replace Cheney as the vice-presidential candidate for the Republican party?
Don't really know. Maybe Colin Powell. Someone without major industry ties.
Oooh, a poll! Thanks, I'll have one.
Date: 2004-02-26 05:53 pm (UTC)--At this point, an enthusiastic, YES.
