The fact that the BBC has named an actor to play the Doctor is music to this Who-ite's ears! Now I KNOW it's real!
My only fear is that they're going to break from the established canon and start everything from the beginning, ignoring the 7 regenerations so far. I have heard that the producers have approached Terry Nation's estate about having the Daleks as one of the "main bad guys", but it's still far from settled.
I've never heard of the actor. Obviously big in the UK, though. Can you reccomend any movies or anything he has been in?
loved our friends in the North it is the only TV series ive ever bought the soundtrack for, always felt they should have done a sequal "our friends in the West" or keep the name and set the next series in Manchester or Leeds. CE was also in Cracker, he played the police chief for the first couple of years before he got murdered by Robert Carlises character (that was RC's big break).
CE is a great actor, but i am surprised. He is a very serious actor, and the role of the doctor perhaps needs a bit of humor. Intrestingly the daily mail reported yesterday that some guy from 'love actually' had been cast (forget the name) beating off competition from Alan Davies and Richard E. Grant. Wonder what happened there. Prolly just the Mail being the mail
Sounds like a very good choice!
