Teasers I have picked up about season 6 in my travels.
Joss wanted Oz to return to help Nina with her werewolf side.
Willow was to return.
The Fang Gang would be fighting Wolfram and Hart in another dimension at the start of season 6.
And Fred and Illyria would be split in two, so Amy would be playing two characters.

I've had enough Willow for awhile, thanks. But again, they might have pulled it off. Certainly interaction with Oz after all this time might have been intriguing.
Absent Wesley, I'm not sure where Fred would have fit, but it might have worked.
I have to say, I'm so happy and pleased with this episode as the show's ending, I can live without a sixth season. I agree with Joss that there were more stories that could have been told, but I'm deeply satisfied with the ending we wound up with.
I also like the way the ending of each show compliments the other: "Buffy" empowers all the Potentials, a metaphor for the spread of freedom in all areas of life, with its accompanying risks, while "Angel" shows the overthrow of a repressive authority, with the risks - perhaps even chaos - that follows. Nice parallel.
