Having just watched the finale

We move onto what could have happened in season 5:



It was not Charisma they wanted for the 100th episode, it was Sarah Michelle Gellar. Thankfully Charisma was the right choice in the end. Though it would have been interesting to see Buffy put Angel back on the right track.

Sarah wanted to be in the finale, Joss wanted her in the Rome episode. Schedules, a death of a relative, and too high a price for Fox to pay all played apart in the no feature of Buffy. Meanwhile the fans nearly tore themselves about the thought of her appearing.

In the Rome episode, Dawn opened the door to Angel and Spike. Not Andrew.

The finale was always intended to be written as a season finale, not a series finale.

There is other stuff but its minor. Those are the big ones.

I think the change in the finale was Joss came on to assist Bell in writing it once it was to be a series finale. He probably cleaned it up a bit.

I would have hated it being Buffy. I was happier that they were each moving on. To make it Buffy would have made that character leading Angel on - telling him he had to always keep the focus on her and she'd accept him when she was ready. I really had a problem with Angel's actions in Rome, it somehow really cheapened his supposed feelings for Cordelia. Of course, it also seemed odd Buffy had paired up again, especially after the big cookie dough speech and her supposed sadness at the loss of Spike. I would have had no problem with any or all of them working together as a team on a problem, in fact that would have been quite fun, I think. Bah. Rambling now.

Anyhow, I really liked the eppy with CC. I thought she really did a great job and it was one of my favored episodes this year.
