If I should properly ask my father to be my best man at the wedding. Certaintly we got closer since my mum nearly died and I have already mentioned it to him months ago but I dunno.

I lost my best friend to a brain haemorrage a couple of years back and I have other male friends obviously but none that could be described as a best friend. I've been thinking about this for a while and I'll probably change my mind but I'd be interested in what other people thought.

if that's who you want to be your best man, then you definitely need to ask him properly...but it is up to you who you choose, love...and you have plenty of time to decide!!

There's no reason you can't have your father as your best man. I imagine he would appreciate it.

My husband chose his brother because they're close and because he didn't want to pick one of his three good friends over the others (they were ushers, and my brother did a reading).

Oh, and I was my brother's "best man" at his wedding.

about whether or not he should ask his dad and brothers "formerly" and I think you should. I think that it not only means something to you but to them as well and it should be made into an occasion rather than a sidebar.
